Dear Parents,

Each Monday morning until Christmas break, we have an all-school morning Advent prayer in the middle of the hallways for the beginning of each Advent week.  You are very welcome to join us.  It only takes about five minutes.  I do hope you have an Advent wreath in your homes, and pray around it each day.

We will be doing our Christmas families again this year.  Each classroom will have a family who is in need of much help for Christmas.  The list is attached.  We try to give as much information as possible pertaining to the children.  This is such a tremendous experience for our darlings to give to those with so much less than we have.  Each teacher will send home a note about the family also.  We want to continue this until December 19th, when the families will pick up their gifts.  Please be as generous as you have in the past.

Standardized test scores are being given individually, with a one-on-one conference between the teacher and student starting tomorrow.  Please review the tests.  If you have any questions, feel free to call me.  This applies only to grades one through eight.

Just a reminder:  Do not go to the classrooms to deliver items, etc. for your darlings.  Items brought for your darlings need to be left in the office for delivery.

Just in case you might be looking for ways to get a tax break before the year ends, or for next year, you might consider donating (big or small) toward a new playground to replace the existing one behind the school.  You've seen many of the modern playground structures at various schools and parks.  That's what we want and our darlings deserve.  I'd like to raise in the vicinity of $20,000 to $25,000 strictly through donations.  Obviously, this will more than likely take a while, but it is worth it.  More on this will be coming after Christmas.

Have a prayerful family Advent season.

Ms. Volker

Scrip for Christmas, Too!

Don't forget to buy scrip for your Christmas shopping and gift giving.  We now have Wal-Mart scrip, too!  Did you know that you can use scrip instead of your credit card at our school's Build the Village online shopping mall - http://stjs.btvo.org.  That way, we get paid twice - once for the scrip use, and once from Build the Village.  What a great idea!

Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas

The Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas, of which our own Javier Reyes is a member, will be presenting a Christmas performance at North Park Mall on Saturday, December 8th at 2:30 p.m.  Come on out and get some Christmas spirit (and give Javier a smile!).

School Choir Upcoming Events

Thursday, December 6 - Chick-Fil-A Caroling

We've been invited to sing from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. at the Waxahachie

Chick-Fil-A.  They provide a free dinner for choir members!  We

will meet there at 5:45 to warm up, and get in position.  Please wear your school uniform.  This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our talented students.

Sunday, December 9 - Music Ministry Concert

Next Sunday at 7:00 p.m. in the PFC, the Music Ministry (all the English choirs) will be singing Advent and Christmas music.  Choir members should wear nice, church-appropriate clothes, and meet in the music room at 6:30 p.m.  This is a fundraiser to help cover the cost of music, equipment and books, etc.  Tickets are $5 - adults, and $3 - children.  Larger families can simply offer a donation.  Make checks payable to St. Joseph Catholic Church.  There will be a reception following the concert, and the school choir members will be responsible for punch and paper products.

Sunday, December 16 - 10:30 Mass

This is just a reminder that this is the third Sunday of the month.  Choir members should meet at  9:30 a.m. in the music room.

Monday, December 24 - Christmas Eve 4:00 p.m. Mass

The school and Cherub choirs will be singing at this Mass.  Choir members should meet at 3:30 p.m. in the music room.
