Dear Parents,
We are very happy to announce our new Advisory Council members: Jeff Frazier, Jeff Prachyl and Michelle Wray. They will join the Council in August. Because we had only three, there was no need for the voting process. They will replace three very hard-working members: Tom Bugg, Beth Terminella and Geri Thomison. I thank these three parents for all they have given to the Advisory Council and the school. They did a fantastic job for all of us in our continued growth.
Congratulations to the Arredondo Family. Emma gave birth last Friday to a healthy little boy weighing 7 lbs.
We had some winners in the Ellis County Youth Art Exhibit this past week. Kendal B. received 2nd Place in Kindergarten, Major M. received Honorable Mention in First Grade, and Karleigh B. received Honorable Mention in Second Grade. All the winners throughout the county are on display at the Museum on Main Street. We are proud of you!
REPORT CARDS GO HOME TODAY! PLEASE TAKE TIME TO GO OVER THESE WITH YOUR DARLING, ESPECIALLY IN AREAS NEEDING MORE ATTENTION BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.
I'd like to thank Danny Huskins for stepping right up and volunteering to work on the chairs mentioned in last week's newsletter. I also thank Lynne and Bob Phillips for their huge donation of needed paper for the copier --- white and colored.
Try hard to sell all your Dream Vacation tickets. They went home last Friday with your darling.
Science Projects are due next week. Remember that the work is to be done by your darling, not you. You probably did yours a few years ago.
Also, remind your darling that nothing should be copied from the Internet or from a book. It has to be in his/her own words.
Have a great week. Remember to pray as a family.
Ms. Volker
SMOOTHIES
We won't have smoothies again until May. The sixth grade goes to Sandy Lake on Friday, April 11th. There will be a Student Council activity on Friday, April 18th. Friday, April 25th is an early release day. Look for a date in May!
AR TESTS and YOUR FAVORITE BOOK
I am getting ready to order new AR tests and will be ordering the minimum, 20. For books where there is no test at St. Joseph's, a donation of $3.00 will purchase one. So, if your student's favorite book is without a corresponding AR test, consider making it happen by sending me $3.00 along with the title and author of the desired book.
--- Mrs. Tidwell
RECYCLE, PLEASE!
Sister Lucy advises PreK will be raising awareness by recycling plastic bottles (Numbers 1, 2 or 3) in the cafeteria at lunch time until Earth Day on April 22nd. Help us do our little part to help Mother Earth.
DESTINATION DREAM VACATION
Hopefully, all families have received their tickets. Each family is asked to sell 8 tickets so that we may reach our fundraising goal. Parents are needed to help sell tickets the next two weekends following all Masses. If anyone can sell tickets after Masses at St. John's in Ennis, please let me know. Remember that selling tickets following Masses goes towards your required 40 volunteer hours.
If there are parents who do not plan to buy a ticket, but would like to volunteer for the event, please give me a call. We need parent(s) to oversee the kitchen volunteers. The kitchen help sets out and replenishes food and cleans up the kitchen. Each parent is asked to volunteer at some time during the evening. We have a master plan in the works, but need to know when and what you would be interested in doing.
If you have any decorations you think may be needed, please contact Laura Mottla.
The Knights of Columbus Casino sponsored by Dr. James Thomison is a new addition to the evening this year. A couple purchasing a ticket will each be given 750 chips at the door. Those who purchase a single ticket will be given 750 chips at the door.
Donations for the Casino and raffle are still being accepted.
Thank you for all you do for SJS.
Please give me a call or e-mail me with any questions.
