Dear Parents,

It was a very sad weekend for our southern cities.  The hurricane did so much damage.  The Galveston/Houston area is in such great need.  We will have a large jug in the office during the day and in the cafeteria during lunch in which we can drop our change, currency, checks for those in need.  We were blessed that it took an eastern turn instead of hitting us.

I want to thank Linda and Al Prachyl for assisting us with the can bin.  Whenever it is full, they hook it up and take it to sell.  They have been a great help and keep a close eye on it.  Keep dropping off your empty cans.

One day last week I was called to the office right after school began.  As I came down the hall, I saw a group of the older girls standing outside the office.  When I approached them, they presented me with a check for $500 from our Girl Scout Troop to help with the school building fund.  I was so excited!  What a wonderful gesture on their part.  Thank you, girls!

Teachers arrive early in the morning to finalize their preparation for the day's classes.  Once in a while, a parent may stop to inquire about a darling, but please don't make it an everyday occurrence.  Once the bell rings, parents need not be in the classroom or trying to conference with a teacher.  The darlings require the teacher's undivided attention.  If a student is tardy, parents do not escort their darling to the classroom.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Finally, the Oktoberfest is upon us.  Saturday is coming quickly.  If you have not sold all your tickets, please send them back to the school.  We had to reprint more tickets for those who are really selling them.  All sold tickets need to be in in by Thursday morning.  Pre-sale of the Family Fun Packs start today for $12.00.

Help is really needed any time on Friday to help set up at the Expo Center.  Dale Kachner will also be out there on Thursday cleaning, cutting grass, etc.  His number is 214-727-5858.  Many hands make light work.  Saturday will be a big day for the community.  We've got to get out there and do everything we can to make it a success.  The weather will be perfect!!

Remember to pray as a family and to pray for the hurricane victims.

Ms. Volker

Oktoberfest is Here!

Oktoberfest is going to be a great family affair.  Thank you all for getting in the raffle tickets, signing up for your class booths and helping out the room moms with the silent auction.  Keep up the good work.

You can still earn one more Free Dress Pass by turning in an additional 30 tickets by Thursday.  We've ordered more tickets, so get some more and keep selling.  The kids are working to earn prizes as a class, too ... there's a Dippin' Dots party and a CiCi's Pizza party for the top selling classes.

Be sure to sign up to work your childrens' Oktoberfest booths.  The room moms are working hard to organize the booths and the silent auction items, so please make sure you sign up to work, and show up on time!

Also, Family Fun Packs for Oktoberfest are on sale now.   Get your tickets for food and games early to avoid the lines out at the Expo Center!  Finally, we still need volunteers in many areas.  Please check those sign-up sheets, and fill in where you can.
