A dream became reality on Sunday, August 23, 1992 as St. Joseph Catholic School was dedicated and blessed by Bishop Charles Grahmann, then bishop of the Diocese of Dallas. The school became the thirtieth Catholic elementary school in the diocese and the first in Waxahachie, Texas.
During the 1992-1993 school year, SJCS offered classes for 44 students for preschool through first grade. Extended day care for preschoolers was offered with after school care for students with working parents. SJCS added a new grade level each year offering classes through sixth grade by the 1998-1999 school year.
In 2001, SJCS took on a new look under a new administrator. The Principal and parents saw that a junior high was needed for SJCS to continue to thrive. The Pastor and Principal received permission from the diocese to add a seventh grade with an eighth grade the following year. In August 2017, the St. Joseph community celebrated our school's 25th anniversary.
St. Joseph Catholic School's students excel in academics and are exposed to a wide range of activities that promote a liberal arts education, which fosters moral responsibility and social outreach in the community. SJCS offers its students instruction, extracurricular activities, enrichment programs, and students organizations in keeping with our vision and mission.
